Broad Top Area Coal Miners Museum
SeasonalA coal mining and railroad history museum in the former Reality Theatre on South Main Street in Robertsdale.
The Broad Top Area Coal Miners Historical Society runs this museum in the former Reality Theatre on South Main Street in Robertsdale. The society was founded in 1990 as a 501c3 charitable organization to preserve the coal mining and railroading history of the Broad Top Mountain and Coal Field, in the corners of Huntingdon, Bedford and Fulton counties.
Exhibits cover coal mining and steam railroading in the region. The upstairs balcony holds the society's research library and exhibits, and families can place miners' names on the Coal Miners Memorial plaques inside. The Visitors Bureau listing describes a trip back in time to learn about semi-bituminous coal mining, railroading and iron-making.
The museum's About Us page says it is open May-October Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Group tours are available year-round at 814-907-1788. The bureau lists admission at $5 for adults and $3 for children. The 2026 season closes after Saturday, October 31, and the Daily News reports the seasonal reopening is set for Saturday, May 1, 2027.
