State Game Lands 251
Not confirmed open this yearState Game Lands 251, a state-owned hunting and hiking tract in Tell Township near Richvale, Huntingdon County.
State Game Lands 251 is a state-owned tract the Pennsylvania Game Commission manages in Tell Township, Huntingdon County. A 2014 Game Commission map shows it as one tract near Richvale. The land lies on ridges in Shade Valley between Shade and Tuscarora mountains.
The map says State Game Lands are open for general use year round, with few exceptions. It lists wild turkey, white-tailed deer, black bear and coyote as commonly pursued species. Hiking, biking and horseback riding are also named, and a small pond at a parking area on Resort Road draws panfish anglers.
Access includes township roads TR 344, TR 346 and TR 355 and SR2015, all reached from SR3005. Fultz Hollow Road reaches the northern compartment, which has no parking areas, though limited roadside spots exist. About 223.7 acres fall within safety zones because private structures stand within 150 yards of the boundary. The map lists the Southcentral Regional Headquarters, 814-643-1831, among its contacts. A Huntingdon Daily News column dated 21 December 2024 reported late-season pheasant stockings planned for the tract.
