Buried In The Huntingdon Cemetery

Did you know? Veterans of the Revolution were buried in the Huntingdon cemetery. Africa's 1883 county history and the 1937 sesqui-centennial book both list them by name.

Conrad Frederick Kurtz died on February 17, 1805.

John Simpson died early in 1807, aged about sixty. He had been commissioned on August 15, 1775, as second lieutenant of Captain James Murray's company in the 4th Battalion of Lancaster County, and he served in the Continental army in 1776 and 1777. The 1937 book adds that he took part in the battles of Trenton and Princeton.

Major William Henderson died on September 9, 1811, in his 56th year. He had been taken prisoner at the battle of Long Island in August 1776, and after five months in a British prison ship he was exchanged, rejoined the army at once and served to the end of the war.

Andrew Henderson died in June 1812, in his 51st year. He had been appointed an officer at the age of seventeen and served until the close of the war. John Dorland died on August 9, 1813.
