Park and playground

Woodcock Valley Park

A Walker Township park in McConnellstown with a playground, practice ballfield, basketball court, fishing pond and walking trail.

Woodcock Valley Park is a township park in McConnellstown, along Ward Street one block over from State Route 26. The township supervisors and a volunteer park committee plan its improvements. A January 2023 master plan describes a gravel loop trail, a playground, horseshoe pits, a large pavilion, a fishing pond, a basketball court and a baseball and football practice field.

The 2023 master plan says the pond is used for fishing in warm weather and for occasional ice skating in winter. The large pavilion rents for $55.00 through the township office. The rules say the park closes 30 minutes after sunset, but the same rules say the ball fields, play equipment, basketball court and small pavilion are available to the public at all times.

By May 2026 the park committee had applied for a Local Share Account grant to pave the trail, which the supervisors say has potholes and ruts, with parts often covered in water after rain. The Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue held its annual Easter egg hunt at the park in April 2025.
