Eat and visit in Mapleton

Original Italian Pizza is at 581 Main St in Mapleton Depot. The menu covers pizzas, including plain cheese, sausage, Sicilian and stuffed crust, plus hot and cold subs, strombolis, Italian wedges and dinners such as baked spaghetti, lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo, served with bread and salad. Appetizers run from breadsticks and wings to mozzarella sticks and breaded zucchini.

Orders go through the shop's own website, which the page says runs on the Slice ordering platform, or through the Slice app. The page lists delivery in 30 to 45 minutes and pickup in 15 to 30 minutes, free delivery, curbside pickup for takeout and payment by credit card.

The shop was listed among the participating restaurants in Raystaurant Week, an eight-day event from February 22 through March 1, 2025, announced by the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau, Huntingdon County Business and Industry and the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce. The site says the shop has worked with Slice since 2022.

The Mapleton Area Historical Society works on the history of Mapleton borough, a town founded along the Juniata River with railroad roots. Its website says the town's story reflects the larger story of America, and it lists sites of particular interest around town, including the Old Post Office, the IOOF Building and Trinity Church.

A Daily News story from 17 April 2026 said the society would be open during the kickoff of the Mapleton Celebrating America250 initiative on 18 April, with exhibits for visitors. Michael Corbin, a committee member, said the society is also a museum, not just a meeting place. The society is collecting and digitizing old photographs from community members.

The society's website says the History Treasure Hunt has now concluded and that new photographs, locations and stories will be added as they become available.

The Mapleton Community Swimming Pool is a borough-run pool in Mapleton, Huntingdon County. It runs through the summer, noon to 7 p.m. daily, and splash parties can be booked from 7 to 9 p.m.

The pool stayed closed for the 2025 season after its filter was badly damaged. In May 2025 the Daily News reported that repairs could take a year and that the borough did not have the funds to replace the filter. The pool reopened at noon on May 22, 2026 with a new and improved system and a new concession stand, according to the Daily News.

Admission is $3 a day, half price after 4 p.m., and free for children 2 and under with a paying adult. Season passes for 2026 are sold on the borough's website, which also lists the splash party rates.

The Borough of Mapleton lists the Veterans Memorial Playground on its Parks and Recreation page. The page lists a basketball court, an accessible merry-go-round and the usual playground equipment, and says the park is open from dawn to dusk. Fencing along the parking lot side has come down to open the park up, and the borough is looking at grants for more work.

A Huntingdon Daily News report from May 2024 describes the playground as adjacent to the pool complex, with a basketball court next to it. On 9 July 2026 the same paper announced that the playground would be the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. hub of Mapleton Youth Day on Saturday, July 11, with carnival games, a reptile tent and basketball games run by the Mapleton Volunteer Fire Department.
