Mount Union borough

The 1917 Wreck, Sleeper Car View

February 27, 1917, the day everything stopped. The sleeper car of the Mercantile Express lies twisted, and a lone figure stands watching. Inside were twenty people who wouldn't go home that night. Photographers captured the disaster raw, selling postcards of the wreck across the state.

Nothing further from the county histories. The six histories held here end in 1913 and this story belongs to 2019, so there is no passage in them that bears on it. Rather than attach an unrelated page and let it look like corroboration, this story stands on the sources listed below.
