He Built The Third House In Town
Did you know? Anthony Beaver, a carpenter, was one of the founders of Marklesburg and built the third house in the village.
He and his wife Sarah, born a Barrick, were both natives of Woodcock Valley. He lived in Marklesburg more than forty years, served for many years as justice of the peace, and was a strong supporter of the free school system.
He was killed trying to stop a runaway team. Their son John G. Beaver was born in Marklesburg on June 25, 1854.
